I. President Muhammadu Buhari is billed to travel to Guinea Bissau today Wednesday, December 7, where he will be decorated with the country’s highest honour in recognition of his contributions to the political stability of the West African nation.
According to presidential spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari is honouring the invitation of his Guinea Bissau counterpart, Umaro Sissolo Embalo.
The special ceremony will be held at the Presidential Villa and will include inauguration of a road named after him, Avenue President Muhammadu Buhari, at the capital city. 

II. Gunmen on Tuesday night abducted a corps member, Adenike, and seven others in Extension 2 Relocation, along Arab Road, Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Adenike, currently observing the mandatory National Youth Service, was kidnapped in her father’s home.

III. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has pegged the maximum over the counter (OTC) cash withdrawal per week for individuals at N100,000 and N500,000 for corporate organisations. The apex bank also limited individual Point of Service (POS) to N20,000 per day.

IV. The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has again provided an insight into his source of wealth, saying he inherited great real estate and turned the values around. Tinubu in an interview on BBC in London yesterday said he was the most investigated and most accused former governor yet nothing has been found on him.

V. Nigerians of voting age resident in the United Kingdom and various parts of the world have dragged President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking enforcement of their fundamental rights to vote in the 2023 general elections.

VI. Benue State Police Command has confirmed the release of the Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Chief Dennis Ekpe Ogbu, who was abducted on Sunday, December 4, alongside his aide and driver, along Ado-Otukpo road.
While the police launched a manhunt for the kidnappers for possible rescue of the trio, family sources told journalists on Monday night that the captors opened talks and demanded N5 million ransom.
The state police spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the release of the commissioner on the command’s media platform at 5:47 pm on Tuesday, December 6. She did not give any further details about the release of the commissioner or mention the whereabouts of the two others.

VII. Brazil football legend, Pele is reportedly showing signs of 'progressive improvement' after being treated for a respiratory infection at a hospital in Sao Paulo.
Brazilian publication Globo reported that the legendary figure's condition is improving after he was taken to the hospital for tests.
They add that the 82-year-old is showing 'stable signs, is 'conscious' and is 'without further complications.
The 82-year-old, who won the World Cup in his career three times in 1958, 1962, and 1970, was admitted to the hospital to treat a respiratory infection that was aggravated by Covid. 

VIII. The Rivers State Police Command has arraigned five persons, including a stepfather, a pastor and a school teacher, before a magistrate’s court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl. The incident happened at Buguma in the Asari Toru Local Government Area of the State.

A release by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Mr Paul Nwosu said the attention of the state government has been drawn to the announcement which he described as wicked, mindless, retrogressive and unnecessarily punitive.
He said the order released on social media was by “enemies of Igbo nation.” A faction of IPOB, led by Finland-based Simon Ekpa had slated five days, from December 9 to 14, for the sit-at-home.

X. A man in Adamawa State had the tip of one of his fingers bitten off by an angry youth who accused him of staring at his mother. Aliyu Adamu, 18, has confessed to his aggression against 50-year-old Yautai Adamu for allegedly looking at his 40-year-old mother.
The boy, his mother and the victim are all from Mairawani in Jambutu, Yola North LGA.

I. Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday, failed to make a commitment that he would use Nigerian health facilities if elected president of the country. Atiku was among the Presidential Candidates who featured in the townhall organised by ARISE Television in conjunction with the Centre For Democracy and Development (CDD).

II. Armed men yesterday invaded the Minna, Niger State residence of Mohammed Sani Musa, Senator Representing Niger East Senatorial District in the National Assembly. A resident said that the suspects, numbering about seven, must have trailed the Senator from Abuja after getting information that he was in the State to attend a coronation ceremony.

III. Bandits have attacked a mosque in Maigamji village, along Funtua-Dandume road, Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina, disrupting Isha’i prayer that was being observed by worshippers on Saturday. A former councillor of Maigamji ward in Funtua LGA of Katsina, Alhaji Lawal Maigamji, said when the bandits came, they opened fire on two people, including the Imam leading the prayers.

IV. At least 46 people were reportedly abducted by gunmen in attacks on two separate communities in Batsari and Funtua local governments of Katsina State, at the weekend. It was gathered that one person was killed and about 28 people were abducted in Karare village of Batsari Local Government Area.

V. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday said that its office in Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State has been set ablaze by arsonists. The National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, said this on Sunday in a statement.

VI. Crisis appears to be brewing over the ownership of the Kolmani Oil and Gas field as both Bauchi and Gombe States have started laying claims to the oil wells. Officials and residents of the two States have also accused each other of attempting to appropriate the site which is said to contain one billion barrels of crude oil reserves and 500 billion standard cubic feet of gas.

VII. Three persons have been confirmed dead in an accident in the Ugheli area of Delta State. It was gathered that the accident happened on Sunday along Evwreni axis of the East West Road, in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of the State.

VIII. The Association of South East Town Unions (ASETU), has said it would allow Nigerians to make informed choices on which of the presidential candidates to vote for, devoid of tribal and cheap considerations, before announcing its preferred candidate.

IV. The Presidency has called on Nigerians at all levels to contribute their quota in the national drive towards ending the HIV/AIDS scourge. Permanent Secretary for the State House, Tijjani Umar, stated this at a one-day sensitisation workshop organised by the State House Medical Centre to mark the 2022 World AIDS Day.

X. Presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and that of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, on Sunday told Nigerians what each of them would do for the country if given the chance to become president in 2023. The candidates spoke during the Arise News Presidential Town Hall series coordinated from Abuja and Lagos studios of the television station, respectively.
